Ghost of Tsushima released today and I've heard many call it the "best way to end the PS4 era"

Those who have it or have been desperately waiting for its release(like me), what are your thoughts?

I'll update this the more I get into the game.

Alright I've gotten a good amount of game-play. Just to note that this is not organized very well and all of it is just my opinion. Will continue updating as I progress through the game.

*Spoiler Free*

Graphics:

Just gonna say this right off the bat: Ghost of Tsushima is the most beautiful game I've ever played in my life. Just moving around the map is mesmerizing. They really nailed the atmosphere and visuals. I couldn't put down the controller for hours just from how much this game sucks you into its world with its gorgeous design.

Story:

I'm not that far in so I can't say much but in my opinion it's fairly good. It's a pretty standard plot(as of now). I will say that I have been doing A LOT of side quests as I usually like to get the most out of these types of games. Each one feels unique and well thought out and some even give you special moves to use. They really put in work on the little things. Picking up side-quests feels super natural and it enforces exploration which is fantastic because...

Exploration:

There could be 0 combat or any story and I'd bet people would still be happy with it because just moving around the map in this game is AMAZING. No matter where you go, you can expect to find something new and exciting or even just something. It truly feels like a real world where things are constantly happening even when you're not around. There are some repetitive things such as shrines and haiku and hot springs and what not that can get stale. Instead of doing what most games do where the player spends a lot of time looking at the map, in Ghost of Tsushima the world guides you to where you want to go. In doing this not only do they allow the player to experience the beauty that is Tsushima around them but also helps with immersion. Also this game usually doesn't hold your hand and leaves you with the freedom to explore as you wish which is a big +.

Combat:

I'm gonna say it. I'm gonna do it. This game makes you FEEL like a samurai. All jokes aside though the combat is spectacular. Depending on your play-style each skill tree does a great job to push you in the right direction. Of course being the edge lord sneaky boi I am I immediately put most of my points into the Ghost. I love how if you do this, some characters will continually tell you to stop playing dirty(again, the little things). I have started to put points more equally into the different skill trees just because the combat is SO FUN and stealth killing can get boring. For the different types of enemies you'll face, there's a certain stance to use- each with it's own special moves. There's just a ton of ways to approach combat with the large amount of tools you're given through progression. This has sometimes been a downside as you can get overloaded and confused(could just be me being a pc gamer). Overall, the combat is fluid and rewarding but also not braindead easy. So far, the game has been a little bit on the easy side for me probably because after playing the entire Dark Souls(plus Bloodborne) series every game feels like a cakewalk. I will most likely return to this game on hard mode once I'm finished and you should too if you want a challenge.

At the moment I'm almost done with the first island. For now it's a 9.8/10 for me: "It has a little something for everyone"

I would recommend the Deluxe Edition because it gives you a pretty sick set of weapon kits, a horse, and an armor set. Also the art book and dev's commentary are super interesting.

I waited till 1am on the release date even though i had to wake up early in the morning to at least play the prologue. Woke up feeling like shit but it was worth it.
The game indeed is very beautiful, it is the only game that constantly makes me stop and look around even 15 hours into it.
The combat is incredible, and makes up for the basic and glitchy stealth mechanics.
I am playing on hard and i died so many times on my first duel, but the fast loading screens helped me to keep going.
I just hope my ps4 doesnt explode before i get to finish it 100%

Nice write up! Super jealous of ps4 owners right now. I’m probably gonna pick up a ps5 when it drops and ghost of Tsushima is first on my list to get
